ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stressed the need to address the root causes of conflicts, adopt conflict prevention strategies and develop long-term solutions to ensure lasting peace and prosperity in the region.
The Prime Minister was talking to the Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), Ambassador Kairat Sarybay in Islamabad on Thursday.
He underlined that as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, Pakistan is interested in playing an active role in maintaining international peace and security.
The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan’s support for CICA’s core objective of strengthening regional cooperation as well as promoting peace, stability and security in Asia through confidence-building measures.
Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s strong desire for enhanced regional connectivity and lauded CICA’s ongoing efforts in this regard.
