ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s former Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar has said that the provincial government along with all stakeholders including major political parties, media and academia should take the lead to counter the soft power of militants in Balochistan. He expressed these remarks during an exclusive interview with the prominent analyst and host of WE News program PERSPECTIVES, Syed Muhammad Ali on Monday.
Kakar questioned the militants and asked, “This is my question to the militants, what they are getting out of it. They (militants) are making people fools.”

Responding to another question regarding India’s involvement in Balochistan, Kakar said that Baloch militants are misleading Baloch youth on the grounds of wrong assumptions like China-US rivalry. He said that India is investing on Baloch militants to create issues for Pakistan. However, the former Prime Minister remarked that Indian cannot achieve their evil designs in Balochistan.
Replying to another question regarding harmony between different ethnic groups in Balochistan, Kakar said that all ethnic groups have remained peaceful in the province for decades. He said settlers from different provinces of Pakistan have also been targeted following the recent violence in Balochistan. Kakar termed the targeting of settlers as an act of genocide in Balochistan, adding non-state actors can be the perpetrators of genocide as per the United Nations definition. He said that BLA, and BRA are committing genocide actions against the other ethnic groups in Balochistan.

Commenting over the future of Balochistan, Kakar said that the province of Pakistan cannot be a viable polity without the federation of Pakistan, adding the two are inter-twined. He said that four ethnic groups share the history, culture and they have been inhabitant of the land for centuries.
