LAHORE: Two days ago, a notification was issued to ensure three holidays to schools in a week in Lahore due to smog but the schools in the city flouted the Lahore High Court (LHC) orders on Friday.
Several private Institutes in the city opened on Friday, and children were seen coming to school with their parents in the morning. It was also observed that no child was wearing a mask besides it was also reported that children were called in Institutes in the name of Sports Day.

3-day per week closure of schools
The Punjab government notified a 3-day per week closure of private and public educational institutions and mandatory work-from-home (WFH) for all non-government and government organizations on the orders of the Lahore High Court.

The decision was taken in the wake of the prevailing smog in Punjab, particularly Lahore, and its devastating effects on the residents. During a previous hearing, Lahore High Court had expressed serious displeasure over the failure of the Punjab government to contain smog in Punjab. The decision was that the institutions will be closed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
