ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday underscored the importance of re-orienting Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives from conventional diplomacy to economic diplomacy to advance the country’s development agenda.
According to a press release issued by the foreign office on Friday the Deputy Prime Minister was addressing the Graduation Ceremony of the 43rd Specialized Diplomatic Course for Pakistani diplomats at the Foreign Service Academy in Islamabad.
The Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister spoke about Pakistan’s foreign policy outlook in view of developing international and regional politics. He stressed the importance of re-orienting Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives from conventional diplomacy to economic diplomacy to advance the country’s development agenda.
He highlighted the important role of Pakistan’s diaspora in the progress and development of the country and asked the young diplomats to serve the overseas Pakistanis irrespective of their political affiliations, ethnicity or religion.
He said that Pakistan’s young diplomats shall be equipped with the necessary skills set to promote trade, tourism and investment.
The Deputy Prime Minister lauded the efforts of the Foreign Service Academy for maintaining excellence in its training modules and the training of a large number of foreign diplomats over the years.
Director General of the Foreign Service Academy, Ambassador Ahmed Hussain Dayo on the occasion underlined the commitment of the Academy to continue to maintain excellence in the training of diplomats and its pride in training 1,554 foreign participants representing 120 countries.
