ISLAMABAD: Heavy rains in Islamabad and Rawalpindi have brought life to a standstill, with roads and streets inundated and traffic-choked across various areas of the two cities and water entering low lying areas. The torrential downpour has caused major disruption, leaving locals grappling with the aftermath.
The heavy rainfall has flooded major roads and streets across Islamabad, creating massive traffic jams and chaos for citizens. Major roads have been submerged, causing long delays and forcing vehicles to find substitute routes.
In several low-lying parts, the situation is even more dire. Rainwater has entered houses, causing damage to property and leaving locals stranded. The affected neighborhoods are also facing power outages and shortages of water, adding to the troubles faced by the local population.
Local media reported that Rawalpindi’s situation is equally grim, and a rain emergency has also been imposed in the city. Alert has been issued and steps have been taken to protect people and their properties. The water level at Nullah Leh is increasing raising fears of flood in the area. The authorities have also started evacuation in the nearby regions.
