LOS ANGLES:  American singer-songwriter and television personality Meghan Trainor has said that it is her dream to be an American Idol judge and she would love to replace singer Katy Perry.

The 30-year-old actress expressed the remarks in a latest appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

During the interaction she was asked if she had approached anyone for joining the singing show, Trainor replied, “I’ve done every interview in the world and said that that is my dream job and I have emailed three awesome people who work in that world.”

She rose to fame after signing with Epic Records in 2014 and releasing her debut single “All About That Bass”, which topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and sold 11 million copies across the world.

She has released five studio albums including the 2016 Grammy Award for Best New Artist.

Trainor added that the people she has approached for work don’t really have the full say but she begged.

The All About That Bass artist said she literally begged for this job. The singer said she has no updates yet but that is her dream job. “I want to drive to work in American Idol and then drive home,” said the singer.

In February 2024, Katy Pery announced that she was quitting American Idol after finishing the season 22 which ended in May 2024.

The show’s other cast member Luke Bryan and Ryan Seacrest have said Trainor would be great as a judge for the show.

Trainer has served as a judge on the television talent shows The Four: Battle for Stardom (2018), The Voice UK (2020) and Australian Idol (2023).
