ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit China to hold meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Sharing details of the trip at her weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Friday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said Shehbaz Sharif will hold meetings with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang in Beijing.
She said that the two leaders will undertake talks to further strengthen the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, upgrade China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), advance trade and investment, enhance cooperation in defense, space, science, technology, education, and energy. Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that the two sides will also exchange views on means to enhance cultural cooperation and people to people contacts, thus setting the future trajectory of Pakistan-China friendship.
She said an important aspect of the PM’s visit will be meeting with the corporate executives of leading Chinese firms dealing in oil and gas, energy and ICT.
In the Chinese city Shenzhen, Shehbaz Sharif will address Pakistan-China Business Forum. He will also visit agriculture and economic zones in China. Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said the PM’s visit is a manifestation of the Iron clad China-Pakistan friendship characterized by frequent high-level exchanges and dialogue.
Afghanistan
Replying to a question regarding Afghanistan, she said that Islamabad has shared the findings into the Bisham attack with Afghanistan and sought their assistance in apprehending the culprits. She added that the Afghan side has committed to stop the use of their soil for any terrorist activity. She added that Afghan authorities have agreed to examine the findings and to work with Islamabad to take the probe to its logical conclusion.
Elections in India
Responding to another question, she said that the Indian leaders consider the bashing of Pakistan and Muslims a winning formula in their polls. She added that they have seen the same during the current polls in India. She further said that Pakistan strongly rejects the politically motivated and concocted remarks on the part of the Indian politicians.
