ISLAMABAD: As temperatures rise and the sun beats down, it’s crucial to safeguard skin against potential ailments.

Dermatologist Dr. Mubashir Mushtaq Daha highlighted the importance of taking adequate steps to combat skin issues exacerbated by harsh ultraviolet rays and increasing humidity.

He emphasized that skin allergies, heat rashes, and sunburns are common during scorching months, underscoring the heightened risk of skin cancer associated with sunburns.

Dr. Daha advised citizens to prioritize skin protection year-round, with extra vigilance during the blazing days of summer. He cautioned against factors that contribute to dry skin, such as excessive sun exposure and inadequate hydration. Furthermore, he noted a surge in fungal infection cases, particularly among individuals frequently on the move between cities.

For relief from itching and discomfort, Dr. Daha recommended natural remedies like aloe vera and rose water. Additionally, he suggested opting for lightweight, breathable fabrics like cotton or linen to prevent moisture buildup, as tight clothing can exacerbate sweating and increase the risk of infection.

Dr. Khurram Mushir, another skin specialist, highlighted the heightened activity of insects during summer and the potential for allergic reactions to their bites or stings. He also noted the impact of seasonal allergies, which can manifest as contact dermatitis due to exposure to pollen or plants.

While home remedies may provide relief for mild reactions, Dr. Mushir emphasized the importance of seeking medical attention for severe symptoms. Overall, prioritizing skin protection and seeking prompt medical care when needed can help individuals enjoy a healthy and comfortable summer season.
