ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday warmly wished Buddhists around the world a happy Vesak festival, which is being observed today.
Vesak, observed on the Full Moon Day in May, is the most sacred day for millions of Buddhists around the world. It commemorates Buddha’s birth over two and a half millennia ago, his enlightenment, and death.
“May this day bring prosperity, peace and harmony to all. Let’s celebrate our shared heritage and continue working towards mutual respect and understanding,” the Prime Minister wrote on his X, formerly known as Twitter, timeline. —APP
