DOHA: Leader of Palestinian group Hamas Ismail Haniyeh on Thursday said the group was still seeking a ceasefire deal and hostage release after an Israeli strike killed three of his sons in Gaza.
While receiving condolences in Qatar, Haniyeh said the interests of the people of Palestine are above everything when asked if the strike would damage the talks on a truce and hostage release.
He said the group is seeking to achieve a deal but the occupation is still evading a response to the demands.
Israeli forces on Wednesday carried out an attack without authorisation from top commanders, raising fears among families of hostages it would derail efforts to secure their release.
Ofri Bibas Levy, whose brother Yarden Bibas was taken captive with his family in October 7,
said he hoped it won’t affect the negotiation. “I hope it won’t make Hamas put harder conditions on the deal,” he said.
