AMMAN: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Tuesday demanded that Israel clarify as soon as possible a strike which killed 7 aid workers unloading desperately needed food in Gaza.
They died while doing what this NGO has been doing for years, which is feeding people in a time of so much devastation, Sanchez said on a visit to the Jabal el-Hussein Palestinian refugee camp in Jordan.
Food aid organization World Central Kitchen said it was halting its operations in Gaza after the targeted Israeli attack on Monday killed British, Palestinian, Australian, Polish and US-Canadian staff, AFP reported.
Founded by Spanish-American celebrity chef Jose Andres, the NGO provides food to communities affected by war. It was established by Andres and his wife Patricia in 2020 following a devastating earthquake in Haiti.
Israeli forces said on Tuesday that it would hold a probe into the air attack and vowed to share the findings transparently.
