China’s self-developed jetliner C919 commenced operation from March 8 on a new route connecting Shanghai with Xi’an in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, marking the aircraft’s third regular route.

On March 8, the flight MU2152, operated by China Eastern Airlines and with 153 passengers on board, departed from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport at 8:40 a.m. and landed at Xi’an Xianyang International Airport at 11:02 a.m.

The C919 aircraft are scheduled to conduct two round trips between Shanghai and Xi’an on a daily basis, according to China Eastern Airlines’ schedule. As the first global customer of C919, the airline received its fifth C919 jetliner from Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) on March 2.

Wang, a passenger on flight MU2152, shared his flying experience with reporters.

“The C919 is a symbol of pride for China. I feel very lucky to have taken a flight from Shanghai to Xi’an on this plane. The takeoff and climb were both fast and smooth. The inflight service provided by the crew was top-notch. Overall, it was a fantastic flying experience,” said Wang.

In 2024, China Eastern Airlines is expected to receive additional C919 aircraft from COMAC as part of their ongoing efforts to expand the operation of home-made large aircraft and increase coverage of domestic routes. (amsp.link)
