ISLAMABAD: Amid recent developments, including a successful talk with the IMF, a decrease in petroleum prices in the international market, and an appreciation of the local currency, the price of Petrol and Diesel is expected to come down approximately by Rs 10 per liter from January 16, sources revealed on Saturday.

According to detail, most of the indicators, including the changes in global crude prices, go in favor of a reduction in petroleum prices from the next fortnight.

If so, it would provide a major relief for the masses and could also result in a decrease in transport fares.

During the last two months, the price of Petrol came down by over Rs 15, and at present, Petrol is available at Rs 267.34 per liter while High-Speed Diesel is at Rs 276.21 per liter. A further increase would help the masses to get more relief.

Petroleum Prices in Pakistan

It is worth noting that the country witnessed the highest ever petroleum prices in January 2023, when Petrol reached Rs 331 per liter while the price of Diesel was recorded at over Rs 335 per liter.

Due to the significant increase last year, the country’s economy suffered pressure followed by high inflation where rates of daily used items went extremely high.

However, the last couple of months witnessed some positive economic indicators. The coming few days are likely to experience further relief if the price of petroleum goes down.

It is the reason the masses are eagerly awaiting the government’s decision and hopeful for a substantial reduction to alleviate their economic burdens.

However, the final decision would be made in a meeting led by interim prime minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar.
