Four Fighters Killed in Baghdad Drone Attack: Report
A local commander in Al-Nujaba’a and one of his fellows were killed in the attack, said police and the group’s spokesman.
He and two Iraqi militia commanders alleged the US of carrying out the strike and threatened to retaliate. Abu Aqeel Al-Moussawi, a local Iraqi militia commander said that they would retaliate and make the Americans regret conducting this attack.
Security sources said that Iraqi security forces were deployed in the site and a security team has reached the area for initial probe.
In December, the US carried out retaliatory attack in Iraq after a drone attack by militants that left one US personnel in critical condition and injured two others.
The US army has already come under attack around 100 times in Iraq and Syria since the Hamas-Israel war started in October.
The US has around 900 troops in Syria and about 2,500 in Iraq on a mission it says aims to advise and assist local troops trying to stop militancy in the region.
