KYIV: Russian warplanes launched 19 long-range missiles at targets in Ukraine on Friday morning, killing one civilian in a central region, wounding four more and causing damage to an industrial facility, Kyiv officials said.

This missile strike marked the first significant barrage from Russia in weeks, with their recent attacks primarily relying on drones during the overnight assaults.
According to Serhiy Lysak, the regional governor of Dnipropetrovsk, as communicated through the Telegram messaging app, unfortunately, one person lost their life, and preliminary reports indicate that four individuals are hospitalized, with two in critical condition.
Yuriy Ihnat, the air force spokesman, mentioned in televised comments that air defences successfully intercepted and destroyed 14 incoming missiles over the region outside Kyiv and the central region of Dnipropetrovsk.
The strike resulted in damage to an undisclosed industrial facility, along with more than a dozen homes in Pavlohrad, Ternivka, and the village of Yuryivska, according to Lysak.
Russia employed seven Tu-95 bombers to launch missiles targeting various regions across Ukraine, as stated by the air force.
Despite the Ukrainian capital being a target, Serhiy Popko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, confirmed that all missiles were successfully intercepted by air defences as they approached.
Debris from the intercepted missiles caused damage to privately owned homes in several settlements in the Kyiv region, shattering windows and destroying walls, as reported by Governor Ruslan Kravchenko.
Air alerts were issued at around 7:00 a.m. (0500 GMT) and persisted for over two hours.
In an earlier overnight attack, the northeastern Kharkiv region was struck, according to official reports. Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko informed that rescuers and police were working to clear rubble, with a five-story residential building, at least seven homes, and 20 cars sustaining damage from the missile attack.
