TOKYO: On Monday, Toyota Motor disclosed that its global production in September experienced a 1.5% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, reaching a total of 900,919 vehicles.

This growth was predominantly driven by heightened demand in Japan, the United States, and Europe.

The company’s domestic production, which constituted slightly more than a third of the total vehicles produced during the month, exhibited an impressive 12.8% rise from the previous year, effectively compensating for a 3.6% reduction in overseas production.

As the world’s leading automaker in terms of sales, Toyota reported an impressive 11.6% surge in global sales during September, totalling 921,308 vehicles. This exceptional performance marked a historic high for both sales and production during that particular month.

In the first nine months of the year, Toyota has successfully sold more than 7.5 million vehicles, including those under its luxury Lexus brand. The domestic market experienced a remarkable 20.5% surge in sales in September, while the United States recorded a 14% increase, and European sales demonstrated an 18.1% upswing.

However, the scenario was quite different in some Asian markets as output and sales in Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam saw a decline in September due to challenging economic conditions. In contrast, China, the world’s largest auto market, witnessed a nearly 7% reduction in production, even though year-on-year sales in the country showed a slight increase.
