GAZA: Hamas has said its fighters were engaged in intense fighting in Gaza where Israel has enhanced ground operations, Western media reported on Sunday.
World leaders have underscored the urgency of increasing aid into the Hamas-controlled territory and protesters worldwide rallied for a cease-fire.
Despite calls for a humanitarian truce and global outrage Israel has intensified the war triggered by Hamas’s unprecedented attack.
Israeli bombardment kills more than 8,000
The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says the Israeli bombardment has killed more than 8,000 people, mainly civilians including children.
Panic and fear have increased inside the Palestinian territory, where the UN says half of its 2.4 million population is displaced and thousands of buildings destroyed.
Hamas’s Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades has said that its fighters were engaged in intense fighting with the Israeli forces in northwest Gaza.
Israel’s army said a new stage of the war began with ground operations since late Friday.
IUS President Joe Biden in a phone call with Netanyahu on Sunday stressed the need to immediately and significantly increase the flow of humanitarian assistance to meet the needs of civilians in Gaza.

UN chief Antonio Guterres said the situation was growing desperate by the hour as casualties increase and basic supplies of food, water, medicine and shelter dwindle.
Hamas Top official Musa Abu Marzouk in a statement on Sunday called on Egypt to take final action to speed up aid to Gaza.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said Israel was bombing around Al-Quds hospital in central Gaza, causing damage.
The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, said thousands of people entered into several of its warehouses and distribution centers in Gaza, grabbing basic items like flour and other supplies.
