KABUL: In response to Israel’s airstrikes on Gaza, a group of women in Kabul showed their solidarity with Palestine cause and called upon Islamic nations to take action against Israel.

They passionately implored international bodies to intervene in order to protect the lives of women and children in Palestine, denouncing the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Gaza as a clear violation of international law and fundamental human rights.

The women questioned the apparent absence of the United Nations when it came to addressing matters of humanity and human rights. They raised a poignant question: Why did no one seem willing to extend a helping hand to the Palestinian people, especially to the grieving mothers and sisters who had lost their children unfairly? Somaia Mohammadi, one of the protesters, articulated this concern, asking, “Where is the UN in these moments of dire need?”

Protesters demand to protect universal rights of Palestinians

Their demands extended to encompass the universal rights of women, regardless of whether they lived in Islamic or non-Muslim countries. They expressed their deep frustration, wondering why it was the Palestinian people who were enduring the brunt of this devastating conflict when so many other Islamic nations existed.

Anjama, another protester, said that with so many Islamic countries, why does it seem that today, the beloved Palestine bears the heaviest burden of this brutal war?

The protesters also highlighted the most fundamental of rights: the right to life and freedom for innocent children. They posed the poignant question, Do these children not deserve the right to live in peace and freedom? Are they not human beings who should be extended the helping hand of compassion?

Hasiba Rasooli, yet another voice among the women demanding change, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the need for empathy and support for the youngest victims of the conflict.
