DUBAI: In a pioneering move set to revolutionize customs inspections, Dubai Customs and Dubai South jointly announced the launch of the “Remote Inspection” project at GITEX Global 2023. Representing a significant leap forward in technological advancements, the initiative aims to streamline business operations and expedite customs inspections through the use of cutting-edge technologies and artificial intelligence, positioning Dubai as a frontrunner in the global technological landscape.

The groundbreaking initiative, the first of its kind in the region, focuses on enhancing efficiency and reducing the time required for customs inspections. Initially targeting clients and clearance agents affiliated with the Authorized Economic Operator program, the project will first be implemented among companies operating in Dubai South’s logistics sector. Subsequently, it will be expanded to encompass businesses across Dubai, establishing the city as a regional leader in the adoption of these innovative inspection technologies.

Use of Technology in Remote Inspection Project

The Remote Inspection project relies on state-of-the-art technologies, artificial intelligence, and a specialized robotic system to conduct inspections within company warehouses efficiently and accurately, all under the supervision of Dubai Customs’ remote operations center. This revolutionary approach not only saves time but also reduces expenses significantly, eliminating the need for customs officers to be physically present at cargo warehouses for inspections.

Featuring a user-friendly interface, thermal and infrared cameras, and long-lasting lithium batteries, the remote inspection system ensures efficient and hassle-free warehouse inspections. Moreover, the project incorporates the use of drones to perform high-quality inspection tasks, enhancing its capabilities further.
