UNITED NATIONS: In the midst of an ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for the urgent allowance of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory of Gaza. The death toll has surged past 1,000 as the war enters its sixth day on Thursday.
Following Israel’s announcement of a total blockade of Gaza, Secretary-General Guterres took to social media, specifically X (formerly known as Twitter), to emphasize the necessity of providing humanitarian aid, including vital supplies such as food and water, to Gaza. He stated, Crucial life-saving supplies — including fuel, food, and water — must be allowed into Gaza. We need rapid and unimpeded humanitarian access now.

The conflict escalated when Hamas fighters breached the border fence enclosing the enclave, leading to Israeli jets pounding Gazan targets in retribution for the attack. This act resulted in a significant loss of lives, with over 1,200 people killed and more than 2,700 injured. Additionally, scores of hostages were taken, according to the Israeli military.
Simultaneously, the death toll in Gaza has continued to rise, reaching 1,200, with approximately 5,600 reported as wounded, as cited by Palestinian media referencing Gaza’s health ministry.
In addressing the Jewish community in the United States, President Joe Biden passionately described the horrors of the Israel-Hamas conflict, referencing confirmed pictures. However, these statements were later retracted by the White House. President Biden had emphasized his administration’s support for Israel amid the ongoing conflict with Hamas and underscored efforts to secure the release of US hostages. He specifically mentioned his shock at seeing and having confirmed pictures of terrorists allegedly beheading children, alluding to allegations from Israel and various media reports.
