ISLAMABAD: Dr. Nadeem Jan, Caretaker Federal Minister for Health, will represent Pakistan at a significant regional health forum involving 22 nations.
Dr. Jan mentioned at Islamabad International Airport that meeting with health ministers from friendly countries will focus on enhancing cooperation in technology transfer for vaccine production in Pakistan.
He emphasized the importance of robust advocacy for Pakistan’s hosting of the Global Health Security Summit, considering it a prestigious opportunity.
The 70th session of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean Region is set to begin in Cairo on October 9.
Dr. Nadeem Jan will provide updates on Pakistan’s healthcare initiatives, challenges, and future action plans during this session. The discussions will primarily revolve around the Eastern Mediterranean Region, from Pakistan in South Asia to Mauritania in North Africa.
The election of the Regional Director for WHO EMRO is also on the conference agenda, and Pakistan will cast its vote.
Dr. Nadeem Jan, representing Pakistan, will participate in the election of the Regional Director for the EMRO region. Additionally, Pakistan will present its annual performance report to the Health Ministers of the EMRO region during the conference.
Key topics during the conference will include universal health coverage, health emergencies, and associated challenges. Dr. Nadeem Jan will provide insights into healthcare sector reforms to address these challenges. —APP
