“The PM reiterated the UK’s stance that all nations should respect sovereignty and the rule of law, including the principles of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations,” a spokesman of the government of the UK said in a statement after Britain’s PM Rishi Sunak spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Justin Trudeau had said that they have credible reasons to believe that India’s agents were involved in the assassination of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada.  He called on New Delhi to collaborate with Canada to ensure a transparent probe into the murder of Nijjar on Canadian soil.

The Canadian Prime Minister said that they had “credible” evidence linking India’s agents to the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June. “We call upon India to take this issue seriously and to work with us to shed complete transparency and ensure justice and accountability in this matter,” PM Trudeau said.

He said “We are a nation of the rule of law. We are going to do the work essential to keep our citizens safe and to uphold our values and the global rules-based order.

Earlier, the United States said that they are giving India no “special exemption” over the assassination of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, adding Washington is in contact with New Dehli at a high level over the matter.
