Rawalpindi Reports 36 More Dengue Cases in 24 Hours

RAWALPINDI: Over the past 24 hours, 36 more dengue cases have been reported in Rawalpindi, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the district to 1,332.

Dr. Sajjad Mehmood, the District Coordinator for Epidemics Prevention and Control (DCEPC), shared this update on Monday.

Of these new cases, 26 were reported from the urban area of Potohar town, six in the Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi, and two in Chaklala Cantonment and Potohar rural.

Dr. Sajjad claimed that 126 patients were admitted to district hospitals, with 95 confirmed dengue cases. Fortunately, 1,237 individuals have been discharged after receiving treatment.

The district administration has taken significant measures to combat the spread of dengue. In the last 24 hours, they registered 21 FIRs, issued fines to 10 violators, and sealed two premises. Rs 175,000 in fines was imposed for dengue Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) violations.

Regarding surveillance efforts, inspection teams conducted indoor checks on 14,948 households the past day, uncovering larvae in 899 homes. Similarly, during outdoor surveillance at 5,145 locations, larvae were detected at 126 sites. —APP
