BERLIN: Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, Chair of the Defense Committee at the German Bundestag, has publicly urged the German government to supply long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine, stating her belief that Ukraine possesses the right to target locations within Russian territory.
In a recent interview with Funke-Mediengruppe, Strack-Zimmermann argued that international law permits Ukraine to strike military targets on the territory of the Russian Federation, regardless of the origin or supplier of the weapons involved.
She emphasized that providing Ukraine with Taurus missiles would significantly disrupt Russian military logistics and called for swift action, cautioning against further delays in delivering the missiles. Strack-Zimmermann warned German Chancellor Olaf Scholz about the consequences of prolonging the decision, emphasizing that delays would only extend the suffering of those affected by the ongoing conflict.
Taurus Missiles’ Supply to Ukraine
The discussions around supplying Taurus missiles to Ukraine have been ongoing, with recent reports indicating that Germany, in cooperation with the United States, has been considering the possibility of providing these long-range missiles.
