Pakistan Army Chief Calls for Comprehensive Efforts to Eliminate Illegal Activities

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Army Chief, General Syed Asim Munir visited Lahore on Thursday where he attended the Provincial Apex Committee, alongside Caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, Mohsin Raza Naqvi, said a military statement on Thursday.

During the Apex Committee meeting, the Chief of the Army Staff received a briefing on the overall security situation, which included discussions on Law Enforcement Actions targeting electricity and gas theft, hoarding, and foreign currency smuggling, read a statement issued by the Inter Services of Public Relations (ISPR).

The forum also received updates on measures taken to safeguard minority communities and the progress of operations in the Kacha area. Additionally, the apex committee also reviewed the repatriation of illegal foreign nationals.

Army Chief stressed that “Law Enforcement Actions against a spectrum of illegal activities will continue vigorously, in collaboration with the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and relevant government departments, to eliminate the substantial economic losses Pakistan continues to endure due to various forms of pilferage.”

The forum was also briefed on the progress of the SIFC and Green Punjab initiatives. General Asif Munir stressed the importance of synergy among all relevant departments to maximize the benefits of these significant initiatives.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to the progress and prosperity of the province, highlighting the unity of state institutions, government departments, and the people.
