KARACHI: The government of Sindh has finally promoted 1,200 teachers who had been waiting for their promotion for years.
The announcement of the promotion of teachers was made through an official notification on Friday. It stated that primary school teachers had been promoted to junior school teachers (JSTs), and junior school teachers were promoted to higher secondary school teachers. All Karachi school teachers were promoted to BSP-16. This decision was made on the Departmental Promotion Committee’s proposal and with the relevant authority’s permission.
In addition, it has been noticed that some teachers are pressuring the Sindh government to be posted near their homes although as per rules only female teachers can be placed in their hometowns.

Ghost teachers to be suspended immediately
In another development, the Sindh Education Department has decided to take strict action against ghost teachers. Ghost teachers are those teachers who exist only on paper but receive a salary. The Sindh government has decided to take action against them by suspending them immediately.
All those teachers from Karachi schools will be suspended who have been absent for the last eight months but getting their salaries. A list of ghost staff has been produced, whereby 79 ghost teachers and staff will be suspended. Non-teaching staff, two principals, four Sindhi Language teachers, ten elementary school teachers, eight junior school teachers and eight high school teachers are included in the list.
