APHC Seeks UN Help for Release of Detainees in Occupied Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) while expressing its concern over the plight of illegally-detained Hurriyat leaders and activists has appealed to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to put pressure on India to release the detainees and resolve the Kashmir dispute as per Security Council resolutions.

According to Kashmir Media Service (KMS), a spokesperson for the APHC in Srinagar said India is targeting Hurriyat leaders and other activists for their political gains. He said APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Naeem Ahmad Khan, Nahida Nasreen, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Faktu, Fahmida Sufi, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Syed Shahid Yusuf, Syed Shakeel Yusuf, Pir Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin. Kalwal, Shahidul Islam, Dr. Abdul Hamid Fayyaz, Muhammad Yusuf Falahi, Zafar Akbar Butt, Sharif Sartaj, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, Bilal Siddiqui, Maulvi Bashir Ahmed Irfani, Umar Adil Dar, Hayat Ahmed Butt and others have been detained in the jails of India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir where they are deprived of all basic facilities.

The statement regretted that India has turned the entire Occupied Jammu and Kashmir into a military camp and is inflicting worst atrocities on innocent population.

The spokesperson urged the UN Secretary-General to take notice of Indian state terrorism and war crimes in Kashmir and play his role in resolving the long-standing conflict in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. —APP
