Pakistan, Azerbaijan Discuss Islamophobia, Climate Change

NEW YORK: Pakistan’s interim Minister for Foreign Affairs Jalil Abbas Jilani has held a meeting with Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and discussed climate change and Islamophobia during the meeting, local media reported on Friday.

Pakistan-Azerbaijan ties

The meeting between the two top diplomats was held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York. They agreed to work together at the international forums, especially at the UN and OIC.

The two FMs also reviewed the recent developments in bilateral ties, trade, energy, IT cooperation, and defence.

Appreciating the announcement of direct flight operations of Azerbaijan Airlines to Pakistan, the FM termed it a very good development to facilitate people-to-people exchanges for tourism and business.

The FM thanked Azerbaijan for its valuable and consistent support to Pakistan on IIOJK at various international forums, including at the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir.

The FM also briefed his Azerbaijani counterpart regarding the grave situation in IIOJK. During the meeting, the regional situation of South Caucuses and Azerbaijan’s efforts to enhance peace and stability in the area were also discussed.
