COLOMBO: The Asia Cup Super Four match between Sri Lanka and India was abruptly halted in Colombo on Tuesday due to persistent rain, disrupting what promised to be an exciting contest between the two cricketing giants.

With the upcoming ODI World Cup in India on the horizon, both teams were eager to fine-tune their skills in this high-stakes encounter. India, after opting to bat first, had reached a score of 197-9 in 47 overs when the rain intervened.

At the crease, Axar Patel was on 15 runs, while Mohammed Siraj, the last batsman, was on two, as they aimed to navigate their side through the full quota of 50 overs.

The highlight of the Sri Lankan bowling was the remarkable performance of left-arm spinner Dunith Wellalage, who marked his presence with a memorable five-wicket haul. Wellalage’s impressive figures stood at 5-40 from his allotted 10 overs, showcasing his spin prowess. Off-spinner Charith Asalanka also contributed significantly, picking up four wickets during the Indian innings.
