Int’l Moot on Food Security Kicks Off in Uzbekistan

SAMARKAND:  The International Conference on Food Security has commenced in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Turkish media reported on Thursday.

Over 620 foreign visitors from 32 countries and 30 international organizations, are participating in the event.

COVID-19 disrupted supply of agricultural products

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, addressing the conference, said that the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the supply of agricultural products.

He added all countries felt the outcome of the pandemic, but the poor countries suffered the most.

The president said that green technologies in the production of agricultural products and freedom of trade and transportation of items would help to overcome the consequences and stabilize the world food market.

The conference will continue for two days, and the participants of the moot will discuss international food safety standards and national security in the field of ecology and food.
