Kyrgyzstan’s State Service Inducts UAVs to Combat Drug Trafficking

BISHKEK: In a significant development, Kyrgyzstan has received unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to bolster its efforts in combating drug trafficking. The UAVs were officially handed over to the State Service on Drug Control in a ceremony, reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

Ulanbek Sultanov, Chief of the State Service on Drug Control, participated in a regional meeting of experts focused on UAVs and innovative technologies. The event featured an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge equipment and culminated in a ceremony during which the UAVs were presented to the service.

Kyrgyzstan’s Efforts to Combat Drug Trafficking

Mr. Sultanov emphasized the importance of utilizing UAVs in the fight against drug trafficking, citing their ability to provide prompt responses and monitor the growth of wild cannabis in challenging mountainous terrain. These capabilities enable authorities to make informed decisions and enhance the effectiveness of their countermeasures.

As part of the event, delegations had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the practical applications of UAVs and innovative technologies within the field of drug control. Additionally, a meeting was held with a delegation from Uzbekistan to discuss collaboration in preventing the spread of new psychoactive substances and medicines containing potent substances.

This initiative marks a significant step forward in Kyrgyzstan’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, leveraging cutting-edge technology and innovative approaches to enhance surveillance and response capabilities.
