Kazakhstan, Tajikistan Vow to Enhance Cooperation

ASTANA: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on Friday held a meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and discussed matters of interest and bilateral cooperation. Tajik President Emomali Rahmon arrived in Astana for a two-day visit.

Kazakhstan-Tajikistan Ties

In a statement, the Kazakh presidency said Tokayev and Rahmon held a one-on-one meeting at the presidential palace. The statement maintained that the two sides also held delegation-level talks.

Tokayev said, “Your trip is highly important in promoting friendly ties between our brotherly countries,” H further said, “We laud the Tajik side for making swift decisions about the fulfilment of pledges particularly about the provision of electricity and water to Kazakhstan.  He added that Kazakhstan was also fulfilling its commitments to Tajikistan.

Rahmon said that he was pleased with the level of mutual respect, trust and understanding between the two nations. He added that further expansion of ties with Kazakhstan will also continue to be a top priority of Tajikistan.
