UNITED NATIONS: The UN Ambassador of India, Ruchira Kamboj, dodged a question regarding the Kashmir issue at a special news conference at the Headquarters of the UN in New York on Wednesday, where she was highlighting her country’s achievement in successfully landing its Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft on the moon.

She responded, “This is not the time for these questions,” to a journalist from Palestine who questioned whether this momentous occasion would result in a resolution of the Kashmir conflict that would allow the Kashmiri people to exercise their right to self-determination.

The journalist asked three questions, including one about Kashmir. The others concerned BRICKS growth and if India’s moon landing achievement would aid its bid for a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

Ambassador Kamboj sidestepped the queries by stating, “Today is the day of celebration, and we are focusing on India’s success and, in fact, the success of all of humanity.” However, she continued, “These questions are very valid, and I will be more than happy to respond to them at a later time.” —APP
