87 New Cases of Dengue Reported in Punjab

LAHORE: Despite decrease in temperature, Punjab still remained in the clutches of the dengue virus with 87 new cases reported on Friday.

As per the latest date released by health department a total of 14,258 confirmed cases in the province. Among these Lahore has the more cases with 6,494, followed by Rawalpindi, 2,626, Gujranwala 1,512, Multan 1,365, and Faisalabad 842 cases.

About the new cases, 44 has been reported from Lahore, 20 from Gujranwala, 13 from Faisalabad, five from Multan and 2 from Rawalpindi. In addition, one case reported each from Sheikhupura, Jhang and Sahiwal within last 24 hours.

At present there are 94 Dengue patients receiving treatment in different hospitals of the province with the leading number from Lahore as 53, the data revealed.

Protective Measure for Dengue

In his awareness message, Health Secretary Punjab Ali Jaan Khan urged citizens to ensure maintaining clean surroundings and cooperate with health teams combating the outbreak.

Meanwhile, for Dengue-related assistance, updates or complaints, a free helpline is available at 1033. Vigilance and proactive measures are crucial to end dengue in Punjab, the data maintained.
