CAIRO: At least 19 people in central Israel were wounded, the Israeli police said, following the military reported the launch of three projectiles on Saturday, Reuters news agency reported.
Reuters reported that earlier local authorities reported that seven people in the central Israeli town of Tira were wounded. The Israeli army stated that sirens sounded in several areas of Israel following the projectile launch.
According to Arab news, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq stated later in a statement it had launched drones at a “vital target” in northern Israel. However, it was not immediately clear if the group’s action was linked to the injuries, Reuters news agency reported.
According to media reports, fighting in Lebanon has escalated in recent weeks between Israel and the Lebanese Hezbollah group.
