  • Security sources say 140 Afghan terrorists were killed in intelligence-based operations between March and September 2025.
  • Compiled data links Afghan nationals to seven suicide and vehicle-borne suicide attacks in Pakistan between 2022 and 2024.
  • Sources say the record supports Pakistan’s long-standing concerns over cross-border militant infiltration from Afghanistan.

ISLAMABAD: A total of 140 Afghan terrorists have been killed in intelligence-based operations across Pakistan since March 2025, according to official data released by Pakistani security sources.

According to the sources, the compiled record provides evidence supporting Pakistan’s long-standing concerns over cross-border terrorist infiltration and attacks from Afghanistan.

The data also links Afghan nationals to at least seven suicide and vehicle-borne suicide attacks carried out in Pakistan between March 2022 and July 2024.

It is a sustained pattern of cross-border involvement in terrorist activities targeting the country.

The security sources said the compilation draws on operational records and post-incident investigations conducted over the past several years.

They said the figures are intended to demonstrate that Pakistan’s concerns regarding terrorist sanctuaries and militant infiltration from across the border are supported by documented evidence rather than isolated incidents.

According to the record, Afghan nationals were identified as perpetrators of the March 4, 2022, suicide bombing at the Kucha Risaldar Imambargah in Peshawar.

The data also attributes the July 18, 2023, suicide bombing in Hayatabad, the August 31, 2023, vehicle-borne suicide bombing in Bannu, the September 7, 2023 suicide bombing in Bannu, the November 26, 2023 suicide bombing in Bannu, the March 26, 2024 vehicle-borne suicide bombing in Besham, and the July 15, 2024 vehicle-borne suicide bombing in Bannu to Afghan nationals.

The security sources said intelligence-based operations conducted during 2025 resulted in the deaths of 140 Afghan terrorists in various districts, primarily in Pakistan’s northwestern border region.

The largest single operation took place in North Waziristan on April 25-26, 2025, during which 45 Afghan terrorists were neutralised, according to the data.

The record also includes operations in North Waziristan, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan and Mir Ali, where security forces killed Afghan terrorists involved in terrorist activities.

It further documents separate operations on August 7, 2025, in which 54 Afghan terrorists were killed in one engagement and another 16 in a separate operation, followed by additional operations during August and September.

Security sources said the documented cases include the identities and aliases of the militants recovered through investigations and military operations.  Many of them were affiliated with terrorist networks operating across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

According to the security sources, the cumulative record reinforces Pakistan’s long-standing position that terrorist groups continue to exploit Afghan territory to facilitate, organise, and launch attacks inside Pakistan.

They said the data forms part of Pakistan’s evidence-based case for stronger action against cross-border terrorist networks and safe havens.
