Zelensky Says Tanks Transfer Dialogue Must End With Decision as US, Germany Mulling to Send Tanks

KYIV: President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday that discussions on delivering modern battle tanks to Kyiv “must end with a decision” as the US and Germany were reportedly prepared to supply the tanks.

President Zelensky said in his evening address that Western allies have the required number of battle tanks and his country has been asking for strengthening its forces against Russia’s attack.

Earlier, magazine Spiegel reported that Germany will send Leopard 2 battle tanks to Ukraine. The report claimed that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has taken the decision to send the tanks to Kyiv and also permit other countries like Poland to do so.

Similarly, CNN reported that Washington is also finalizing plans to send Abrams Tanks to Ukraine and can make an announcement soon. Some US officials told the US media that the timing of the actual delivery of the tanks is not yet clear as it will take several months to provide training to troops to use it.
