Yemeni Streets Filled with Protesters Against US-British Airstrikes

DUBAI: Massive protests erupted in Yemen as tens of thousands gathered in various cities on Friday to condemn the US and British airstrikes in response to Houthis attacks on Red Sea shipping.

Overnight, the US and Britain conducted numerous airstrikes on Houthi military targets, escalating regional conflicts triggered by Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, a member of the Houthi Supreme Political Council, denounced the strikes as terrorism, particularly targeting the United States referring to it as “the Devil.”

The Houthis vowed to target all ships heading to Israel warning international shipping companies against using Israeli ports. the Houthis have been targeting Israeli and US interests in response to the Israeli continues ground and offensive attacks on Gaza and West bank.

“We did not attack the shores of America, nor did we move in the American islands, nor did we attack them. Your strikes on our country are terrorism,” said Al-Houthi.

In Sanaa, protesters demonstrated by stomping on Israeli and American flags expressing anger against the airstrikes. The Iraqi group Harakat Al-Nujaba warned that American interests and its allies would no longer be safe.

The region has witnessed over 130 attacks on US and allied forces in Iraq and Syria since Oct. 17, according to Washington.
