ADEN: Yemen’s Armed Forces say they carried out 1,292 strikes against Houthi military targets within 24 hours, claiming to have killed more than 430 fighters and destroyed or disabled over 100 military vehicles and other assets.

In a statement issued as part of Operation Dawn of Yemen, a military spokesperson said the strikes targeted defensive positions, fortifications, trenches, firing positions, reserve gathering areas and transport and supply vehicles.

The spokesperson said fire support had helped prepare for ground assaults and advance military operations against the Houthis.

Advances On Fronts

On the eastern front in Marib, government forces had advanced further, widened their breakthrough and taken control of several positions and strategically elevated areas, according to the statement.

On the southern and western fronts, forces continued to increase operational pressure on the Houthis and weaken their military capabilities.

Military engineering units were also clearing mines and improvised explosive devices allegedly planted by Houthi fighters to open routes for advancing troops and secure areas recaptured during the fighting.

Operations In Taiz

In Taiz, airstrikes targeted Houthi reinforcement convoys and combat formations, the spokesperson said.

The Yemeni government forces and the Popular Resistance had detained several Houthi field commanders. Their cases were being handled under military and legal procedures, it said.

The military spokesperson also urged residents in Houthi-controlled areas to protect their sons from recruitment campaigns, warning against sending them to fight.
