BRASILIA: World leaders on Sunday condemned the attack on Brazil’s Parliament and the Supreme Court and termed violence as unacceptable. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that they condemned the assaults on Congress, Presidency and Supreme Court today. He tweeted that using violence to assault democratic institutions is not acceptable.
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador termed the attack on government buildings in Brazil as undemocratic. The President said that Lula is not alone and he has the support of the progressive people of Brazil, Mexico, and the world.
Brazilian Supreme Court
European Union Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell was also shocked by the acts of violence and illegal occupation of Brasilia’s government sector by extremists on Sunday. Josep Borrell expressed full support to Lula and his administration, to the Supreme Court and to Congress. Brazilian democracy will succeed over extremism and violence, the EU Foreign Policy Chief remarked.

Earlier, supporters of Brazil’s far-right leader and former President Jair Bolsonaro attacked the buildings of the Apex Court and Congress and also encircled the presidential palace in Brasilia.
