MUZAFFARABAD: A video showing miscreants of the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) opening fire on law enforcement personnel in Rawalakot city of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has surfaced on social media.
The footage shows armed individuals linked to the banned organisation firing at law enforcement personnel in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The video shows men carrying submachine guns and directing gunfire at law enforcement officials.
Officials said that members of the banned group have repeatedly targeted law enforcement personnel while operating under the banner of public rights advocacy.
They further added that the proscribed JAAC-linked individuals were involved in previous attacks on the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Rawalakot, a police armoured vehicle, and an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), incidents authorities say demonstrate the group’s violent activities.

It’s a good idea they were proscribed, always these kinds of foreign-sponsored cells that spawn anarchy. pic.twitter.com/CY5eCxEAGd

Analysts stated that the banned committee, supported by external elements, is attempting to undermine peace and public order in AJK through armed actions.
They argued that incidents involving armed attacks, arson, and violence against law enforcement suggest that the group’s objectives extend beyond rights-based activism.
The analysts emphasised the importance of decisive measures to safeguard lives, property, and stability in the region.
On June 8, 2026, violent clashes broke out between AJK police and members of the banned JAAC in Rawalakot, resulting in multiple fatalities and injuries, according to officials.
A spokesperson for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) AJK said that armed individuals associated with the banned organisation opened fire on law enforcement personnel during the confrontation.
Meanwhile, the AJK government has announced a reward of Rs 10 million for information leading to the arrest of four wanted leaders of the proscribed group.
An official notification stated that the reward will be awarded to anyone whose information results in the arrest of the suspects, while the identity of informants will remain confidential.
The four individuals named in the notification are Shaukat Nawaz Mir, Umar Nazir Kashmiri, Mehran Arshad Khawaja, and Sardar Aman.
The AJK Home Department has directed the Inspector General of Police to ensure the immediate implementation of the reward scheme and coordinate efforts aimed at apprehending the suspects.
