Washington: The US President’s chief of staff Ron Klain is likely to quit his role in the coming weeks, US media reported on Saturday.

The exit of the senior political operative would be a key change in the White House, where Ron Klain manages President Biden’s schedule and drives his policy agenda.

New York Times reported that Klain is likely to leave after the US President’s State of the Union address. Biden will deliver his Union Address on 7 February.

However, the media outlet did not give a specific date about his departure from White House.  Biden’s chief of staff, Ron Klain spent decades as one of Biden’s top advisers, first in the US Senate and later when he (Biden) was vice-president.

Ron Klain was also served a senior White House adviser to ex-President Barack Obama and chief of staff to former US Vice-President Al Gore.

Reuters news agency claimed that Klain has informed US President Joe Biden of his decision to quit the White House, however, some reports suggest that a successor has yet to be decided.

The New York Times reported that Labour Secretary Marty Walsh and Anita Dunn can replace Ron Klain.
