The US President denounced “the assault on democracy” in Brazil and said he looked forward to working with Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who defeated Bolsonaro in the most fraught polls last year.

He tweeted, “I condemn the attack on democracy and on the peaceful transfer of power in Brazil”.
Biden added that the will of the people of Brazil will not be undermined. He further said that they will support Brazil’s democratic institutions. The US President also said that the current situation in Brazil was “outrageous.”
The attack echoed the United States (US) Capitol assault two years ago by supporters of former US President Donald Trump.
