ISLAMABAD/NEW YORK: United States (US) House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy has banned California Democrats Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell from serving on the House Intelligence Committee.

According to the APP, Kevin said, “I have rejected the appointments of Eric Swalwell and Adam Schiff for the House Intelligence Committee.”

”I committed to returning the House Intelligence Committee to one of genuine credibility and honesty that regains the trust of the American citizens.”

Kevin said in a letter sent to House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries the “misuse” of the panel during the previous four years ”severely undermined its primary national security and oversight missions ultimately leaving our nation less safe.”

Speaker’s move no surprise

The move did not come as a surprise, as Democrats voted in 2021 to eject two Republicans, Representatives Paul Gosar and Marjorie Taylor Greene, from congressional committees when they held the majority. — APP
