ISLAMABAD: The US House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday was unable to secure the needed 218 votes to win the race the next House speaker. This is the first time in nearly hundred year that the majority party’s nominee needed a second vote.

Vote for US House Speaker ends in stalemate

Reps. McCarthy, R-Calif., Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., and Andy Biggs, R-Arizona, split most of the votes three ways.
