US Consul General Reiterates Strong Ties with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: William K Makaneole, US Consul General in Lahore, reiterated on Friday that the US was committed to strengthening bilateral ties with Pakistan through exchange programs, economic development, and cultural preservation initiatives.

During his two-day visit to Sargodha, the Council General met government, business, and private sector leaders and academicians.

He held a meeting with members of Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) to discuss ways to further consolidate financial ties between US and Pakistan. He also visited the National Orange Factory in Sargodha.

US Consul general mentions 75-year-long partnership

The Consul General said that Pak-US relations spanned over 75 years and the United States was Pakistan’s largest export market. He said that a number of US firms were doing business and investing in Pakistan for the past twenty years.

He asserted that US investment in Pakistan surged by 50 percent in the past year alone, reaching its highest level in over a decade.

US Consul-general: $95 million worth of aid provided post floods

He said that US always stood by Pakistan and it will continue this tradition in the future also. The United States has contributed over 95 million dollars in cash, security, disaster preparedness, food, health, and capacity building in response to destructive floods

He also planted a tree at the Sargodha Botanical Garden and appreciated the Clean Green Pakistan initiative of the government, saying clean energy was critical in the fight against the negative impacts of climate change.
