ISLAMABAD: US Congressmen Michael Baumgartner and Ryan Zinke have praised Pakistan’s growing diplomatic role in promoting regional peace and stability, including its efforts to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran.
Speaking to state-run Pakistan TV during their visit to Islamabad, Congressman Michael Baumgartner commended Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic engagement with both the United States and Iran, as well as its efforts to support peace initiatives related to Gaza.
He expressed optimism about the future of Pakistan-US relations, saying the bilateral partnership is poised to grow stronger in the years ahead.

Baumgartner also highlighted the steady expansion of people-to-people exchanges and business cooperation between the two countries, noting that the relationship is evolving beyond its traditional emphasis on security to include broader economic and commercial engagement.
Congressman Ryan Zinke said US President Donald Trump, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif maintain close and effective communication.
He expressed confidence that Pakistan-US ties are currently stronger than they have been in many years, citing the positive momentum in diplomatic engagement and bilateral cooperation.
Pakistan seeks permanent settlement of US-Iran conflict
On Friday, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar called upon the international community to seize the opportunity provided by the Islamabad MoU and the ongoing technical negotiations to push for a permanent, peaceful and durable settlement of the Iran-US conflict.
He said Pakistan firmly believes that dialogue, diplomacy and mutual respect provide the only sustainable way forward to resolve conflicts and achieve durable peace and security.

The Islamabad MoU, brokered by Pakistan, was signed in June to end hostilities between the two countries and pave the way for a lasting peace agreement to permanently end the conflict.
The Islamabad MoU was signed on June 18 by US President Donald Trump, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, following Islamabad brokered a ceasefire between Washington and Tehran.
Under the Islamabad MoU, the US and Iran committed to halt military operations, reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping, and negotiate a comprehensive agreement covering Iran’s nuclear programme, US sanctions, and a permanent ceasefire within 60 days.
UN Chief commends Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has commended Pakistan’s efforts to promote peaceful conflict resolution at the UN Security Council (UNSC), describing the country’s diplomatic initiatives as vital in helping reduce regional tensions and encouraging dialogue at a time of mounting global instability.
Speaking during an open debate of the Security Council convened under Pakistan-sponsored Resolution 2788 (2025), Guterres stressed that diplomacy and mediation remain the most effective tools for preventing and resolving conflicts, particularly as violence continues to spread across the Middle East and other regions.
Pakistan intensifies diplomatic efforts

Pakistan reaffirmed its support for dialogue, regional stability and the implementation of the Islamabad MoU.
Speaking at the weekly press briefing, Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said Pakistan remains engaged with regional and international partners to encourage de-escalation as tensions persist despite the ceasefire.
“Pakistan is continuing its diplomatic outreach in support of dialogue and diplomacy.” Andrabi said and added that Pakistan continues to view dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path to lasting peace and has maintained close engagement with countries across the region to prevent renewed hostilities.
Pakistan is also the principal mediator between the US and Iran after it secured a ceasefire on April 08 and hosted the highest level of talks between the two nations on April 12 and 13 in Islamabad.
The first round of Pakistan and Qatar-mediated US-Iran talks, led by US Vice President JD Vance and Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf, was held in Switzerland a week ago, and Washington waived sanctions on Tehran.
After the talks, Pakistan and Qatar announced significant progress in diplomatic efforts between the US and Iran following the conclusion of the first round of high-level talks in Switzerland.
