WASHINGTON: The United States (US) expressed concern over China’s provocative military activity near Taiwan, which it called destabilizing, the White House said on Monday.
The National Security Council of the White House maintained that the US would continue to assist Taiwan in maintaining a sufficient self-defense capability in line with our long-standing commitments and consistent with our one-China policy.
US terms largest incursion
Seventy-one Chinese air force aircraft, including fighter drones and jets, entered Taiwan’s air defence identification zone during the past 24 hours, Taiwan’s government said on Monday.
The White House termed the activity as the largest reported incursion to date.
