ISLAMABAD: On the orders of Punjab Interim Health Minister Javed Akram, the University of Health Sciences (UHS) has announced to reverse the recent hike in the examination fee.

Examination fee hike

The institution announced the hike in the examination fee on January 31, citing rising expenditures and a seven-year gap since the last fee increase.

The UHS made it clear that certain allegations, such as a 10-fold increase in the examination fee, were untrue. The costs of hiring foreign experts, who are compensated $480 for each review of a PhD thesis, increased, and as a result, the fee was increased.

The UHS said it was paying for these extra expenses out of its own resources.

The UHS emphasized that increasing examiner wages were necessary to ensure exam quality. However, the fee increase will be examined in compliance with legislative directives.
