UAE Foreign Minister Meets Syrian President in Damascus

ISLAMABAD/LONDON: Minister of Foreign Affairs of UAE and global Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and President Bashar Assad, president of Syria, met and discussed ways in which bilateral ties might be incresed through cooperation at all levels to serve the interests of both countries.

UAE minister’s visit to Syria

According to Arab News, the meeting took place in Damascus during the Emirati minister’s official visit to the Syria. He passed on well wishes from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, UAE’s president, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, a vice president, prime minister, and ruler of the Dubai, along with their wishes for the stability, progress, and prosperity for the Syria and its citizens.

Syrian president sent his greetings to Emirati leaders, along with his best wishes and kindness for the further prosperity, development, and progress of both states. In addition to bilateral relationships, the two authorities discussed a number of regional and global issues of mutual concern, including latest developments in the Syria and the wider Middle East.

The Emirates News Agency reported that Sheikh Abdullah affirmed his state’s commitment and keenness to support efforts made to find the political solution to the Syrian issues that restores the security, stability and unity of the Syria and meets the aspirations of the Syrian citizens for development and prosperity.

He hailed Syrian president’s official visit to the UAE in March previous year and his meeting with his Emirati counterpart, which came within a framework of the joint desire to continue friendly consultation between two countries to discuss bilateral ties and coordinate opions regarding various issues of joint interest.
